Coconut Fish Curry

This is one of my favorite recipe - Coconut Fish Curry. I love cooking Fish, you can just blend it with some spices and come up with tasty dishes in no time. Absolutely no thinking is required to cook fish, there are 1000s of dishes you can try with it.

I’m very bad in picking the Good Fishes in the Market, I leave this job to my hubby. And you bet every time he brings some different Fish and different name which I’ve never heard off. I was very familiar with only Sear Fish and love them the most but now I guess I’ve tasted most of the Fishes we get in Bangalore.
The ingredients for this recipe are very simple and easy to cook. You can try this recipe in any of the River /Sea Fish, it tastes awesome.

Coconut Fish Curry

Ingredients:

Sear Fish – ½ kg
Coconut Milk – 2 cups
Green chilies – 6-7 nos
Ginger Garlic paste – 3 tsps
Dhania powder - 1 tsp (Coriander powder)
Red Chili powder – 2 tsps
Lemon Juice – 5-6 tsps
Finely sliced onion – 3 nos
Finely sliced tomato – 2 nos
Turmeric Powder
Curry Leaves – 10-12 nos
Coriander – to decorate
Oil – 5-6 tsps
Salt to taste

Method:

Marinate the Fish with lemon juice, 1 tsp of Ginger Garlic paste, red chili powder and salt for 1 hour.
Take a nonstick pan and shallow fry the marinated fish with few drops of oil until done. Keep aside the fried fish.

Heat the oil in a deep pan, fry the onions and the remaining Ginger Garlic paste until it turns brown. Add the Dhania and Turmeric powder and fry for 2-3 mins. Now add the Coconut milk and bring this to boil. You can add some water at this point if you need and boil for 2-3 mins. Add salt to taste.

Add the fried fishes to this curry and cook for 10 mins. Add the sliced tomatoes now and allow the curry to cook for 10 mins.  Turn off the heat and serve the tasty Coconut Fish Curry with hot rice.
